The Most Effective Book Trailer Ever.

So there's this book:

MISS PEREGRINE'S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN. I'd seen it around. And even though it looked creeptastic, it didn't really grab me for whatever reason.

Then I read this review, which led me to this book trailer:

Then, after I saw it, I saw this "making of" book trailer:

In the past, there have been book trailers that convinced me to buy a book I was on the fence about--this is the first time that I found immediately went out to buy a book that I'd consciously decided not to buy previously.

And I did. I downloaded it onto my Kindle that second--but I can already tell that I want this one in print. Because scattered throughout the text? Creepy old vintage pictures that go along with the story. And the author? He found the photographs, before he wrote the book!

  4. Wow, that IS creeptastic. Kind of like the Xmen wind up in an old insane asylum while on the run from the Church of Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials.

  8. Beth, this is amazing. I've seen the poster at my local indie (a place I've seen YOUR poster before), and last time I picked up an order, this book was actually with the book I'd requested! I said it wasn't mine, but maybe I should go back and claim it?

How satisfying to write something and then discover places that so perfectly speak to your creation.

  13. Oh! I LOVED this book! I was afraid it would give me nightmares or something (I'm quite impressionable lol) but I was still curious. It was so good! I hope you like it. And for the record, I didn't have any nightmares. :)

  16. This sounds a bit too scary for me. I don't handle creeptastic well. But, I'll pass the word around to people that do.

  17. I finished MISS PEREGRINE yesterday, and I still can't stop thinking about it. A friend of mine is an AP English teacher, and she wants to add it to her curriculum. I'm completely in awe of this book! The only word I can currently use to describe it is "brilliant."
