I'm still trying to figure out what works best for my writing, but you've given me some ideas and things to think about. Unfortunately I get hardly anything done in the summer. :)Jaime Thelerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12442679809704484650noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7164206822403278866.post-59322725289494972922009-10-01T16:13:54.925-04:002009-10-01T16:13:54.925-04:00I have a crit group with some really great readers...I have a crit group with some really great readers who do chapter by chapter for me.
AFter each chapter is done, I re-read the whole thing and if I think it's ready, will give it to one or two trusted beta readers.Jennifer Shirkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16970585847385511795noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7164206822403278866.post-25253814654013798072009-10-01T14:43:43.583-04:002009-10-01T14:43:43.583-04:00Wow, this sounds so thought out. I do have stages of readers, though, and I'm currently in the middle of a major revision that will strengthen the book. I find it's always good to know what you're weak at and ask for help with that.Elana Johnsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05877856005992028912noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7164206822403278866.post-36414547533406936212009-10-01T13:33:15.138-04:002009-10-01T13:33:15.138-04:00I am so impressed. I have felt for some time that I need a good beta reader for the big picture. I have crit buddies who give me lots of great advice chapter-by-chapter, but I feel I'm missing something in big picture. Lots to think about in this post.Tricia J. I didn't have any for my first novel--and it showed. I found SCBWI (where I found my alpha reader and one of my beta readers) and this blog (my other alpha and my gamma readers) to actually be the best sources of finding readers. I've been accumulating readers, critique partners, etc. for a long time, working on various projects and participating in a give-and-take where I'd help them, too.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11431700962951592287noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7164206822403278866.post-90561944112196849272009-10-01T10:51:20.230-04:002009-10-01T10:51:20.230-04:00Very good post Beth!

Perfect timing for some tips. ; )

On this WIP I've had readers reading as I'm going too, and I think that works out really well. I like doing some revising as I go instead of getting slammed at once.

Great advice, Beth!Rebecca L Suttonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09239634586708606373noreply@blogger.com
